ORVIETO
Orvieto was founded by the Etruscans; its name derives from “Urbe vetus”
(i.e. old city ) and, according to this meaning, a “new city” coulde be somewhere else.
On the basis of many findings, Orvieto has been thought to have a very important role in the past. It is famous for its wonderful cathedral with frescoes. Its wines and gastronomical culture are famous in the world. “Jazz winter” festival takes place in Orvieto in December. Near Orvieto there is the volcanic lake of Bolsena which is the fifth lake in Italy for its width and it is visited by many tourists.

The Cathedral, popes’ palace, S. Patrick’s well, Moor’s tower, the town hall, S. Andrew’s church, the necropolis of the Crucified and the Cannicello, Soliano palace.

Civitella del Lago is a village 3 Km. far from the farmhouse and has a wonderful landscape on Corbara lake and on the valley of the river Tiber.
TODI
It was founded by the Umbrians. Its original name was "Tuderte" which means "bordering on Etruria". Todi was influenced a lot by the Etrurians and between the 5th and 4th century b.C. it became one of the most important centres of the area. Conquered by the Romans about in 340 b.C., Todi fought with them against Hannibal in 89 b.C. For this reason Todi became a municipal district of Rome and a roman colony. Moreover, it could mint coin.

To be seen:
People's square with the Palace of Priors, the fourteenth century tower, the People's Palace in Lombard-Gothic style, the Captain's Palace and the cathedral which was built where an ancient roman palace was. The Gothic church of S. Fortunato. 4th November square with the ruin of the fortress. The church of S. Mary of consolation.
